Legislation Description
The purpose of this legislation is to amend 2 N.N.C. § 1352 and 17 N.N.C. §§ 1851 through 1854. The resolution will delete coroner provisions in Title 17 and establish in lieu thereof a Department of Medical Examiners. This department will exist within the Navajo Nation Division of Public Safety. Once approved, the Law and Order Committee of the Navajo Nation Council will be authorized to approve a Plan of Operation for the newly-created Department of Medical Examiners.
