Return to Public Reports Legislation Details Resolution Number NABIJN-22-22 Legislation Number 0088-22 Legislation Title An Action Relating to the Health, Education and Human Services and Naabik’íyáti’ Committees; Opposing Secretary of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Recommendation in Closing Several Veterans Affairs Community-Based Outpatient Clinics Near the Navajo Nation Including the Gallup Community-Based Outpatient Clinic; Request the Air and Infrastructure Review Commission to Review and Recommend a Community-Based Outpatient Clinic or Similar VA Health Care Facility to be Established Within the Navajo Nation Legislation Description If approved, this resolution will oppose the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs recommendation in closing several Community-Based Outpatient Clinics near the Navajo Nation including Gallup, New Mexico. This resolution also requests the Air and Infrastructure Review Commission to look into and analyze whether the Commission can amend the Secretary’s recommendation and include a Community-Based Outpatient Clinic or a VHA Healthcare Facility to established within the Navajo Nation for Navajo veterans as part of modernizing VHA facilities under the MISSION Act of 2018.
